“ Barones is an old school restaurant with lots of older diners and people celebrating special occasions located just a couple of blocks off the Main Street in downtown Pleasanton. We had a great meal at Barones made all the more enjoyable by the fantastic server, Gabe who went out of his way to guide us through our menu choices and doing little things like getting the salads and entrees split in the kitchen. My wife's sea bass was the menu standout and the nightly swordfish entree was also delicious. I couldn't decide what to get but opted for a classic chicken Parm which totally hit the spot after a full day of wine tasting. The warm French cheese bread and butter was also a good antidote as was the crispy Cesar salads. Water glasses were constantly filled (one of the things I always look for) and team service was efficient and cheerful. We felt very well taken care of. The decor might we a bit tired but I think the food and service more than make up for that. ”

“ I went here with my coworkers and I was surprised we got a table! Since the mask mandates were lifted, the restaurants were at full capacity which is great, but if you are planning on the fly, not so great. We lucked out. We had the option of going inside the dining room, but since half of us were hungry, we preferred the bar area, but were able to go in the tented area. This worked out for the best since we got there and the live music was about to start (another first in a long time). We ordered a bunch of shareable plates and other people ordered entrees. It worked out great for everyone. The host was very gracious and we were just happy to be here. It was a great idea for an impromptu gathering. ”

“ Fine Dining [Pleasanton CA] Dined here with a group of colleagues, party of 12. The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Pleasanton. Our reservation was at 6:30p but we arrived early since we were just a hop, skip and a jump away staying at the Rose Hotel on the corner of Main Street. We waited at their bar and lounge waiting area and had drinks from their bar. We were led to our table and the place setting was beautiful. Complimentary warm bread and butter were served. For starters we had the Calamari and Scoozi (gorgonzola and green onion stuffed flatbread). For my entrée I chose the center-cut 8-oz filet Mignon with a small side Caesar's salad. The roasted potatoes and veggies were coated in garlic herb butter and served in cognac demi-glace sauce. The meat was cooked to my liking, tender and flavorful... excellent filet mignon! Dessert time! I had a taste of the tiramisu, chocolate layer cake, creme brûlée, and the toasted almond cake. We ordered all four selections and shared. The wine was good (choice of reds or white) and we also had a glass each of that Fireball® RumChata. Whooeeee! I didn't finish my glass. The waiters provided excellent service as if we were the only guests. Our dining experience here was extraordinary. Joe Barone, restaurant owner, came out and stopped by to talk with one of our colleagues, a regular in this restaurant. I was so full and satisfied I almost had to be rolled out of there. “ Second time @ Barone's, and the overall experience, was equally satisfactory as the first time. From the host at the front desk to the end of dining, the service was impeccable, and somewhat of a rarity these days. Made birthday dinner reservations to celebrate a friend, and upon arrival, requested a specific table; they made sure they accommodated our request, which made the whole experience AMAZING! YES, I'm in love with this place, can you tell? The whole ambiance is so hard to find these days (outdoor patio lighting, open dining spaces, as well as Cabana seating, open air bar and beat of all, Live Music!) What's also great is the personnel make sure we feel welcome, and are willing to accommodate / suggest drinks, as well as different combinations on the menu, even if not stated ”

“ "2.3 Acre Event Center!" We were here for a baby shower dinner, which took place in the covered patio area. We were concerned about parking, but were relieved to see a large parking lot in the back. The service was outstanding the entire evening. The staff did a great job at making a large group feel comfortable, and kept our drinks filled. The chief created several great option for our party. We had the option of chicken piccata, grilled salmon, sea bass, or filet mignon. Each of the selections was excellent. I had the sea bass, which was particularly tasty. It was served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had a chance to talk to the owner, who was also the maitre d' this evening, and he explained some of the history of this property. A long time ago it was a winery! Don't forget to check out the huge back lot. This restaurant is really an event center. If you're wondering about the property size, it's 2.3 acres. The city is planning a new housing development on this site. So sadly, the restaurant will probably not be here much longer. The large house next door is also part of the parcel, but it might still remain standing after the new development. So overall, an excellent evening. We appreciate the professionalism of the entire staff. ”

“ I've written a review for their night Night Under The Stars events that were held on Thursdays (pre -Covid). That was where my girlfriends and I used to go to let off a little steam. We miss it very much. We returned for a lovely outdoor dining experience, and so it's time for me to update my review. Atmosphere: The set up outside is romantic, the lights are beautiful, and they have it spaced out so that everyone is safe. As the October sun set, not one, but TWO heat lamps were rolled over to our table. We didn't even have to ask. Very much appreciated. Food: The bread and salad were delicious. The fried zucchini was absolutely crispy, salty, and my very favorite. We loved the accompanying sauces too. I don't care for mushrooms, and my BFF (Aka sister for life) kept going on and on about how wonderful the mushroom soup was. Apparently it was delectable. Speaking of delectable, always save room for dessert at Barone's. The creme brûlée was outstanding, and you also can't go wrong with anything chocolate that they're offering - trust me. Service - this was a toss up. The man who waited on us was 5 star top notch. The boy who didn't understand that I wanted my salad before our main course, looked at me like I had just asked for his first born child. He just couldn't be bothered. Ok fine. Our wonderful waiter politely checked in on us quite a few times. Toward the end of our meal, he gently leaned in and said in a sweet low voice to me "Excuse me, you didn't eat your dinner. Was something wrong? May I please bring you something else?" Here's the thing- I tried to move things around my plate, sort of picked at my plate, but he STILL noticed. So attentive, and didn't let it slide. Lol I had ordered the cauliflower steak. It wasn't good, it was undercooked (yes - I understand what tender crisp would have been- I'm a veggie lover). I knew that ordering cauliflower as my main meal was a bit of a gamble and I completely own that. The pesto alongside wasn't to my taste- it was bland and tasted like a lumps of maybe oregano? . Not garlic or basil or any other deliciousness I had high hopes for. The accompanying veggies were also really lacking in flavor. There were a lot of other tempting options and I chose cauliflower. That was a gamble and I own that. I was certainly happy to pay for my meal. Because, Hey- when you gamble, sometimes you lose. Our server was just as stubborn as I was, we went about 5 rounds of "NO, I insist" I finally waved the white cloth napkin. Lol We definitely enjoyed ourselves, the beverages, the appetizer, salads, soups, and desserts were most excellent. Our server was just the best!
